I am using a pop3 mail server and Leaving a copy of the email on the server
so I can access it elsewhere. Outlook 2003 duplicates the messages and I
have run all the patched Post sp. Anyone?

Are you getting all the messages that were left on the server each time you
start Outlook, or just some of them? How many POP3 accounts do you have?

Yes, getting the messages left on the server as duplicates, 2 POP3 accounts,
they are totally different and no relation.

If you're getting *all* the messages left on the server when you get
duplicates, your problem is probably (I hope) addressed by a fix that we're
currently testing. I'm not sure when or how it will be released. Does this
happen every time you download, or only occasionally?

If you're not getting *all* messages downloaded again, could you turn on
diagnostic logging (see
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q300479) and post
the OPMLog.log file (preferably as an attachment) after one of the receives
in which you get duplicates?

I have the same problem but in my case I have two POP3 accounts from the same
ISP and the Email will be addressed to one but I will receive it in
duplicate. I spoke to tech at the ISP and they said that they don't know how
to solve the problem.

all messages, everytime. I now have 7 copies of all my correspondance. Glad
it was not just me, I was getting ready to go back OE.

But I still want to receive the mail from both accounts. If I clear this
item I won't receive mail from that specific account, correct?

It depends on how the mail is delivered to the two addresses on your server.
Is the username (*not* the email address, but the username field right above
the password) in the account different for the two accounts? If they are
the same, then you'll get all your messages with only one account,
regardless of the email address being used.

Well it's the same user name and and password. But does that mean that when
I have two seperate email accounts on two computers with the same username
that they both will receive the same Emails?

I will clear that check mark and see what it does.
Thanks

That depends. If you access the same POP account (where the POP server
username/password is the same even if the mail addresses are not), then it
doesn't matter how many computers you use, they'll all see the same message
store and download everything in it unless you use a client that can
distinguish on the server which mail address received the messages. Outlook
can't do that until after the messages have been downloaded.

Actually, no client can tell without downloading the message - you've got to
get at least the headers to tell who the message is to. So especially if
you have several accounts, downloading only the messages for each account
from the same mailbox is going to take a lot longer, because you'd be
downloading all the messages for each account, then ignoring those that
weren't for the current account. It would essentially double the time it
would take to get the mail if you had two accounts in the same POP mailbox.

It tells me that my article is too large to send. I cannot send the
opmlog.log to the group.

Hello Jeff,

It's now 12/17/2004. Is the fix available yet? I think everyone needs it
if they fall into the first group. I see document 888238 out there but it
states that it's not generally available yet. How and when can we get it?
Our Outlook is not usable this way and I am very serious about switching to a
different email client.

Best Regards,
Robert

You get the fix by calling product support and requesting it - because the
fix hasn't gone through the level of testing that a service pack is
subjected to, product support wants to track who gets the fix.
