duplicate main menu drop-down items in Word 2002?

Somehow, my Word 2002 version has duplicate entries of the main drop down
menu, it is as follows:

File, Open (as an icon) File, File, File, Edit, View, Insert, Format, Tools,
Table, Window, Edit, Help...

How do I remove the duplicate items?
 
You may want to close Word, search for the normal.dot on your computer and
rename it (I wouldn't delete it just yet), then restart Word. May help.
