Duplicate Emails Received in Outlook 2003

I have been receiving duplicate emails in Outlook 2003. I believe that it
has something to do with either my profile or the email account list itself.
I opened Outlook the other day to find some thing very strange. Certain
email accounts had "disappeared" from the list, and all had lost their
passwords. I had to redo my list completely. In doing so, I found when I
used a specific "display" name, the program responded with a dialog box that
stated there was already a name like that and that I had to change the name.

To me this means that a certain file was holding the email accounts but not
displaying them. I have no rules set, and there is nothing else that I
could think of to cause this problem.

I just noticed some thing else in my Outlook progress dialog. I turned the
dialog box on and pinned it so it would stay open. I noticed that all email
addresses were sending and receiving once. However, there was the one email
address that was duplicating its own efforts.

Must be in a file itself. Is there a cure without losing everything in my
profile?
