Duplicate data from one field to another

I am still struggling with duplicating data from one field automatically to another - I have experimented with Bookmarks with no success. I am doing an outline and wish to have the data in a particular form field automatically appear further down in the outline as it is typed above in the outline. Thank you in advance.

You need to double click the form field and check "calculate on exit." The
form field will have a preassigned bookmark name (e.g. if it is the first
text formfield in the document the bookmark will be Text1). In each place
you want it to duplicate use a REF field e.g., {REF Text1 }

"Form Field?"

This term usually denotes a document protected for forms. This is what Word
calls an "online form." Check this in help. For more about online forms,
follow the links at <URL:

Chapman's series of articles.

If you are using fields inserted using the Forms toolbar, these don't
function properly unless the document is protected for forms. And then, you
probably can't be typing an outline.

When you say you've experimented with bookmarks with no success, I would
need to know exactly what you've done to give you any pointers on what to
change. You repeat information from a bookmark, named, say Topic1 by using a
Ref field:
{ REF Topic1 }. Note that bookmarks are very fragile and typing next to the
edge of one can delete it (although not the text it contains).
