dumb question - bought a used IBM....

If you can help, please reply to (e-mail address removed) as I don't check here
too often.

I bought a used IBM thinkpad and want to change the name of the registration
on XP.

I think it's causing another problem: in the Documents and Settings folder
is a file named "raffiAttar" (the prior owner).

In trying to wipe out the info about the prior owner, i attempted to rename
this folder, but was told that this is a windows system folder and it can't
be renamed or moved.

Is it related to the registration?

If not, ideas on how to fix both?

I guess the problem isn't too important but nonetheless,
try removing the user before you try mucking with his
files.

Also, the first thing I do with a used computer is
reformat it and reinstall. Who knows what state the
prior owner left it in? Recently there was a post from
someone who was asked to debug a friend's computer and he
said he found 400 spyware/malware/virus files. I guess
the first 399 didn't bother his friend but the 400th
prevented booting ;-)
