As a program manager for a large corporation, I get hundreds of emails a day.
I rely on Outlook rules to help me organize and focus on what matters.
Unfortunately, Microsoft Exchange has a memory capacity limit that cuts the
number of active rules that one can have on the server at any one time. This
is a third or less of the actual number of rules that I have and use.
My workaround is to create a rule but not select it to be active/loaded to
the server. Then periodically (e.g. the beginning and end of the day), I'll
open the "Run Rules" dialog, turn them all on and run them. Right now, I
have to select each rule to turn it on. I would like to see "Select All" and
"Clear All" buttons in this dialogue to simplify this process.
Eventually, it would be best to have Exchange provide enough space to let me
have as many rules as I want. According to our Exchange IT folks, this is
not currently configurable. I'd like to see it automatically configure the
amount of storage memory itself based on utilization.
