I'm getting ready to use the dual view feature of Win xp so I can have
a 2nd monitor. I found the Knowledge Base Article # 283674 that is
the basic MS intro to this feature.
Anyone out there in the "Blue Yonder" had any experience with this
setup (good or bad). I would like to hear from you. Sometimes these
ventures into the unknown with computer mods lead to "gotchas' THAT
CAN WREAK HAVOC.

TIA

I am running twin 21" and I LOVE it. Pro or home the setup is the same.
Are you putting in a seccond vid card or have a dual head card? (one DVI
and one VGA) All you need to do is plug it in then go to display settings
and you will see 2 Monitors there. Set the properties(res, primary,
secondary, extend my desktop to) and you are done. It is that simple. :)

I guess I will install a 2nd vid card because I'm sure the current vid
card is not a dual head card. pardon my newbie question but what do
you mean by " one DVI and one VGA" ? Is that what you have in your
system or are you recommending that?

Anyway thanks for the reply

DVI is another means of connecting to monitors (see
http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/D/DVI.html , first definition) The connector
looks like a rectangular block with many holes. You can get inexpensive
adapter cables to connect a standard analog monitor to the DVI output.

Many video cards have both a VGA (15 pin) and DVI output on them, allowing
dual-monitor setups. (You may also find a TV-out, either RCA or S-Video) on
video cards). You can also find a few cards that have dual VGA outputs.

Your other option is to install a second video card ( PCI based, as your one
and only AGP slot should be filled with your current card).
