After installing a 2nd PCI video card in a Windows XP
system, a right click on the open desktop produces a
Microsoft error report on Explorer and reloads the
desktop. Pulling (or disabling in the case of the on-
board card) either video card fixes the problem. I have
updated the system bios and both sets of video drivers
already. Any suggestions?

Buy a single video card that has dual outputs. Two video cards enabled in
the machine most likely will cause probs, as you found out.

Sometimes two video cards aren't compatible with each other. I have had bad
luck with two ATI cards in the same machine (although if I replace either
one with an NVidia, it works fine). Also, some of the cheaper cards aren't
a fan of ANY other video card. If you need two, and your onboard doesn't
like to play with others, I have had great luck (done it in three machines)
with NVidia TNT2 based cards, they are cheap, and they work well
unless you need 3d.

Wrong. They often will work fine together. And it is rare to find cards
with dual output. If you know of any, please post a URL.

Rare? I use a Matrox G400 TV ... regular video monitor on the VGA connector,
and TV output on the breakout box. Also available as dual VGA outputs on
other models in the G400 dual-head line.

Please read what I wrote not what you want to hear. I never said two cards
won't work, I said they will most likely cause probs. That means that
sometimes they will work fine together. I said the same thing you did, just
better. And what are you talking about, dual monitor cards have been out for
years, ATI, Nvidia, etc....... most any big name has one. Go to there
websites and check them out. I got one right in front of me that came with
an oem dell computer as a standard option. Any computer store has them,
there everywhere. If you're not familiar with dual output video cards, then
you should not be telling people they are wrong and commenting on a subject
you know little about.

I'm not gonna search all over just to prove to you that these cards are
available, but there's a couple. The radeon 7000 dual display card is so old
it's discontinued, that's how long they've been around. Ati has others,
search around.
