is it possible to have to separate Network Settings, say ONE for work using
Different DNS, IP etc. and ONE for home using my DSL ?

i am sick and tired of dragging my computer around and resetting Netowrk at
work and back at home

i am on WinDozeXP

thanks, Mel

Using a single Network Interface card I'm assuming your home DSL
settings are Dynamic IP, Automatic DNS etc and your office has fixed
TCP/IP settings ? Really all you need to do is create a Network setup
for each location. Apply the Dynamic settings to your DSL and name
the connection appropriately. Rename your office Network setup to a
distinctive name as well. So instead of Local Area Connection 1 and
Local Area Connection 2 you would have "Home DSL" & "Office Net."
Depending on where you are plugged in one connection will be enabled
and the other one will be disabled. This would all be dependant on
whether the connections are static or dynamically configured. Both
Lan's would appear in Network Settings and can be single clicked to
enable or disable as the active connection.

If one location uses DHCP and one has a fixed IP address, you're in
luck:

1. Configure the TCP/IP properties to obtain an IP address
automatically.

2. Click the Alternate Configuration tab and enter the fixed IP
settings.

XP will automatically use the right one: #1 when there's a DHCP server
on the network, and #2 when there isn't.

If that doesn't help, take a look a these programs. They let you
store multiple network configurations and switch between them easily:
