I purchased some dual layer discs yesterday and was wondering how to burn to
them?
Both sides of the disc looks like they can be burned to, is this correct?
can I burn 8.4GB of data on each side of the disc or only 4.7GB data on each
side?
My writer is dual layer.

If you look at the package you will see that says on the front....either
single sided or double sided......
what does yours say??

Dual layer refers to 8.4 GB on one side. If both sides were recordable they
would be labeled double sided.

No packaging, everything is blank, brought from China. All I can see printed
in the centre of the disc is DVD-R 8X 302
It looks like I can not write with pen on either side and sorry, I don't
know if it is single or doubled sided. I just asked for some 8.5GB dvd discs

You have double-sided, single layer discs. Next time ask for, and make
sure you receive, double *layer* disks.

You are buying Chinese disks -- unseen and naively?

Hilarious!

P. T. Barnum was right.

If they work....there is a LOT of difference in media. 10 plastic coasters
for $20 ain't that good of a deal.
Heirloom, old and have a few coasters

I don't really know much about dual/single layer disc's, now I know alot
more.
So with dual layer disc's I can burn 8.5GB on each side?

Whatever burning program you are using (should) tell you how much space is
available when you go to burn. Insert a disc and see what it says.
