dual cpu on win xp home edition

I am about to install win Xp on a dual CPU machine already
running Linux, as a dual-boot option

I understand that XP Pro supports 2 processors while XP
home does not.

Does this mean that it :

1. XP home won't install/work on a machine with 2 CPU's,
or
2. that it ignores the second CPU altogether but runs fine
on just one

I'd rather not remove the 2nd CPU !
