Harry

I have W98 on c: and XP on d: with a dual boot from c:

This has worked fine for many months, and has been fully updated by MS from
time to time.

I have now replaced c: with a larger drive, and copied the entire old c:
drice from a backup tape to the new drice, including the boot.ini file which
is unaltered. However upon booting, the boot.ini is not 'seen'and the
conputer boots into W98 only.

I do not want to reload all the XP files etc, what can I do to the new c:
drive to activate the dual boot ?

You can try booting from the XP recovery console and running fixmbr,
and later bootcfg /add

Microsoft Windows XP - Bootcfg
Use the bootcfg command for boot configuration and recovery (boot.ini
for most computers).

Good luck
