Scott

I currently have a dual-boot system ... Win 98 on C:, and
XP on D: (separate drives). D: is formatted NTFS, C:
FAT32. I no longer use WIN98 on the C: drive, and would
like to get rid of it and the dual-boot, and reformat C:
to the NTFS for use by XP. I want to keep the XP install
on D: as it is a faster, newer drive, and use the C: for
data files. Any way to do this without having to re-
install XP?

the thing you have to do is select c:\ drive (seperate
partition) during installation from dos mode.
in windows mode selelct advance option during setup wizard
of windows xp

Hi
What you can do is boot into XP and delete all files on Drive C appart from
the following (Which are required to start Windows XP, some of these are
hidden system files)

[In the root of drive c]
BOOT.INI
NTLRDR
NTDETECT.COM
PAGEFILE.SYS
HIBERFIL.SYS (Exists if hibernation is enabled)

Open c:\Boot.ini and remove the line which refrences Windows 98 e.g.
(C:\WINDOWS="Windows 98"). Then you can use the convert command to change
the C drives file system to NTFS. I would recommend reading the following
site before attempting to convert
http://www.aumha.org/win5/a/ntfscvt.php

Hope you find this of use
