Dual boot/Setting up XP after a failed upgrade..

Fishing for opinions here since my other post asking for
assistance drew a blank.

I have two installs on my machine.
1- C:\WINDOWS (a failed Pro over Home install)
2- D:\WINDOWS (a clean Pro install on a new drive)

I want to have my system boot and run from an install off
C: drive. Now I'm considering just swapping drives so C:
becomes D: etc but I want to know if anyone has done that
before and if the system will be smart enough to recognise
the change without problems.

Also, how do I 'disable' this failed install so I don't
have to dual boot? I'll be keeping the files online for a
while during the trasition, but I don't want to the system
to detect the presense of an install on C: drive anymore.
Thoughts?

I've got a similar problem - I have a failed install and have to manually choose the good installation from the dual boot menu.
Is there a way to edit and remove the unneeded entry - or do I need to do a reinstallation?

Thanks!
