dual boot option

i installed windows xp prof dual boot in 2 different partions c and d. (by accident
my opening screen requests which boot to use, 1 or 2
since i do not want dual boot, i removed all entries from my partion d and re-formatted d
however the opening screen selection 1 or 2 remains active, although there is nothing ind
when i want to boot 2, partion d, windows cannot start and cannot locate windows in root/system32/hal.dl
how can i remove the dual boot request from my opening screen ?

Try Control panel/performance/system/advanced/startup and
recovery/ then at the top of that window-edit the startup. you'll
see the text that shows up on startup now and can wipe out the entries
that don't work anymore.

Try going to Start > Run > msconfig
boot.ini tab
click on 'Check all paths'
