I have a dsl connection and when I go to check the speed It is 247 kilobits
per second. the storage is 30.1 kilobits per second and then my download is
1 mb per second. It says it i mediocre. I am wondering if this connection
would be worth the 34.00 per month I am paying

Not when I'm paying $40 per month for cable modem service running at 3.0Mb
down and 256K up.

You're downloading 1 *MEGABYTE* *PER SECOND* and you're /complaining/?! That
means you're paying £34 for a 10Mbp/s connection! Sounds like an absolute
bargain, mate - except I wasn't aware home users could get a connection that
fast...

Maybe you don't mean 1MB - maybe you mean 1KB, in which case, yes, it's
crap.

The OP didn't say 1MB they said 1mb - there's a difference - uppercase
mean BYTE, lower case mean bit - normally 8 bits make a BYTE.

Yes, you may get 3.0 at 3:47 A.M. when no one else is on line. What are
your download speeds at 6 P.M.? Why are you paying for bandwidth that you
are not getting? Cable is shared node access, while DSL is dedicated
bandwidth. Using cable is like buying gasoline that only delivers
acceptable mpg at other than rush hour. Base DSL is usually 384 or 768,
depending upon your provider. I am getting the platinum level here in
Hawaii, getting 3 GB 24/7, and I pay $1 less than the comparable RoadRunner
service. Cable is for those who don't know any better.
