I need the drop down list button on the toolbox in Form design in Access 2003.

I added it under 'add commands' and it is greyed out and will not work.

Any suggestions?

I don't understand. It is impossible to disable a single control in the
Access Form/Report design toolbox.

Hi Arvin,

Well, I go to the form design.
The drop down list is 'not' on the toolbox
I go to the toolbox/ toolbar options/ customize
I drag the 'drop down list' button onto the toolbox
I click it
I get an error message: :The constant you entered for the control type is
invalid'
I click HELP
I get a blank screen
I cannot click 'ok'
It freezes.

Any suggestions?

I may have read your question incorrectly. The toolbox is only available in
Design View for a form or report. If you click on the small down arrow
(downward pointing triangle) at the top of the toolbox, you'll see a
dropdown list. Clicking on it there is another dropdown with: Add or Remove
buttons. Clicking on that will bring another list. Choose Toolbox. At the
left edge of the combo box control, click and a check mark will appear, as
will your combo box.

I must say that in 15+ years of working with Access practically ever day, I
have never seen nor heard of a changed toolbox.

Well, maybe I am doing something wrong. My task is to put a drop down list
on a form. I go to design view of the form, the drop down list button is not
on the toolbox. If I click the arrow on the toolbox and do an 'add and
remove' and then toolbox, the drop down list isn't even an option. They only
way I can get it is to customize and just drag it onto the toolbox, but the
control is invalid.

You mention below the 'combo list', I have that one, it is the drop down
list I need.

Ummm...

Those are two different names for the same control. A Combo Box *IS* a "drop
down list".
