I just installed XP Pro and nithing from my old equipment
works...no scanner, no camera...the drivers the products
are using are not compatible with XP...certification is
required. I could not byu all new equipment. What could I
do? Uninstall the XP or...
Thanks,

Take a deep breath MJ and relax. This isn't a big problem.
You just have to find out what the model number of each
piece of hardware is and then visit the manufacturers site
and get the drivers for that model and XP from them.
Drivers are free so don't worry. All your old equipment
will work. If you can't find a driver as the manufaturer
has discontinued support then sites like www.drivershq.com
can provide links to get one from somebody. If you can't
resolve this issue e:mail me with the models and makes and
I can find one for you. Good luck.

As another person mentioned you have a choice with unsigned drivers. If the
driver is current or, for older devices, at least a Win2000 driver you
should be able to opt to install it even if not certified.

There is a setting for this: Right click My Computer and choose Properties.
On the Hardware page, click the Driver Signing button. Choose to ignore
warnings, prompt for unsigned driver or block unsigned drivers. I have my
XP systems set up to Prompt for action.

See thread for today, subject title; 'Installation of Service Pack1'

Try going to the manufacturer's sites and downloading updated drivers for
Windows XP. If they are updated for Windows XP, and you are still getting
the error that they are not compatible with Windows XP that certification is
required, I would say to cautiously go ahead. Almost all of my drivers say
that, when installing them. Not all driver manufacturers submit their
drivers to Microsoft for Certification, that doesn't mean they don't work or
will cause a problem. Most of the time you won't have any problems,
especially if using drivers from Win 2k.
