Hi

I have recently upgraded to Windows XP 64 Pro and need some hardware drivers
for my Logitech Webcam Pro 4000 and my CanoScan D660U scanner. I have
contacted both companies and lo and behold (with no huge surprise here
either), they informed me that they will only be supplying drivers for their
NEW products and top of the range products. Pretty damn nice of them I
thought ...... If anyone has any idea of a 3rd party driver that will work ,
PLEASE let me know !!!

I am sure that many people are annoyed that they have to replace peripherals
that are in perfect working condition only because the companies are slack in
providing drivers.

Many thanks

That's normal! It is not cost effective to develop drivers for 64-bit
OS's - not to mention the hardware may not even be 64-bit capable, again
making it cheaper to manufacture and past those savings on to the consumer.
That's why it is recommended that unless either a) the PC/Laptop is shipped
from the manufacturer with full 64-bit OS and hardware driver support or b)
build the PC/Laptop from scratch and where one can purchase the hardware
with 64-bit drivers, then it is best to stay with 32-bit OS until your
PC/Laptop is at End-of-Life and it is being replaced and/or phased out.
That's exactly how it went when we did the 16-32 bit conversions, just more
consumers now have one or more home PC/Laptops making it more visiable to
the general public.

Do the 32 bit drivers work? Seems worth a shot.
