Today, after a re-boot, I got this BSOD error. No problems previously, no
newly installed hardware or software. (I did a re-boot this past weekend
with no issues).

I'm thinking its related to the printer manager, as I get to the desktop, my
directCD seems to start ok, its when I see a printer icon in the system
tray, that the error occurs.

I didn't have time to mess with it before I headed to work, I'm going to
unplug the printer and try a re-boot after that.

I'm curious as to why this would occur out of the blue? Might the USB port
suddenly be bad? I'll try another during my attempt to diagnose and fix.
Then I'll try new drivers as well. It just bothers me why all of a
sudden.

I'm running Win2K Pro, and the printer is an HP multifunction (cannot
remember the model number offhand).

I am having the same problem. Out of the blue I start getting the BSOD.
I have a HP Office jet D135 mulitfunction connected to a DELL optiplex GX110. I am the IT rep for my office and have contacted both DELL and HP for help. Neither have provided solutions.
I believe it to be a software issue and not necessarily hardware related. Here's why: With the drivers unintalled, and the usb printer connected, all is well (of course I can't print, but no BSOD). Once the drivers are installed I get the BSOD if the printer is also connected. If the drivers are installed, but I disconnect the USB printer all is well ( no printer, but also no BSOD).
Here's the kicker. I ordered a replacement computer (DELL Optiplex 270T) and have the same problem with it. Go figure.

I am running Win2k SP4 and have a host of hotfixes applied.
I am at a loss to fix this thing. Any help ?
