I want to create shortcuts on my desktop for cd-rom and rewriter etc, so in
my computer I did this but when I try to use any of them its comes up with
shortcut missing do you want windows to delete this shortcut.
Is this a conflict with software I have installed and is there away round
it.

Thanks in advance

Load the drive you want the shortcut refer to, highlight it then go File and click Create Shortcut and place it on the Desktop.

if you double-click that desktop shortcut when there is no disk in the
drive then this is teh behaviour you'll get. be sure there is a disk in
it first. on my system, when I make this mistake the short cut gets
modified to point to \windows, which is very annoying. I [sort of] got
around this by making the shortcut read-only, so the system can't modify
it. however, the *&** shortcut should work just like the icon in My
Computer, that is ASK ME TO INSERT A DISK!! thanks ms...
