Recently my motherboard went and I had a new one
installed, but could not open OS XP pro. I then tried to
repair OS via disk but that did not work - finally I re-
installed (but called the new OS file XP/2). I now have
my system working but there is so much junk left over
from the previous XP and Win 98 that I just want to start
over. I have backed up my data but how do I reformat my
harddrive (C)so that I can reinsatll XP Pro from scratch.
I tried "my computer" and right click on "c" but I get a
format error hat states a disk utility may be running or
close all contents showing c - any thoughts

Change your boot sequence to boot from your CD-ROM before your hard drive.
Insert the XP cd.
Restart the computer.
