After the FBA process I have changed drive letters on my system. After a
reboot the drive letters revert back to their original post-FBA settings. Has
anyone seen similar results? If so, is there a fix?

Thanks,

Slobodan,

We have multiple drives and partitions in our system. During the FBA process
they are assigned drive letters, say F thorugh L. I then change these drive
letters using DISKPART (command line disk management). For example, I change
drive letter F to drive letter X. When I reboot the drive letter reverts back
to F. So each time I reboot the XPe machine I have to re-assign drive letters.

Hi Jason,

Using link that I gave you will be able to preassign volume letters from Target Designer so your problem will be obsolete.
Regarding the problem. Do you have EWF that is enabled?

Jason,
Regarding the problem. Do you have EWF that is enabled?

If no EWF is in place, what type of Logon component you use?
If Minlogon, how you reboot the system?
You have to make sure the registry changes flushed (diskpart would probably just change MountedDevices key content).

We are using Minlogon and we use the shutdown.exe utility to shutdown the
system. Which registry keys must be changed to make drive letter assignments
permanent?

Are they the same keys that are included in Slobodan's previous message?

Thanks for your help,
-Jason

Hi Jason,

AFAIK: MountedDevices is the only entry that contain volume letters assignment.

Jason,

Under XP only [HKLM\SYSTEM\MountedDevices] and [HKLM\SYSTEM\Setup], "SystemPartition" are probably interesting in your case.

In between reboots, check the registry keys content offline to make sure your changes got flushed.
(although, shutdown.exe should flush the registry)
