Hi, I have a Desktop Computer system.
I want to add another hard drive but have no drive bays available, The only
place I could put it is on some spare room on the bottom of the case,
connected to the normal data cables and powers supply plugs but actually not
fastened to anything, assuming there will be no knocks to the case will this
be ok or am I setting up some future problem. In short does the HD have to
be screwed into the case or bay??

Strictly speaking, the answer is no. However, the chances of the drive being
damaged sitting at the bottom of the case are higher by a considerable
degree.

if you must then at least be sure to raise it up off the "floor", to allow
circulation. Today's disks can get very hot, they need good airflow. And
the screws that mount a drive to a bay provide a ground connection, so you
would need to provide some sort of strap to a good ground. But it's
definately doable, just secure it well (double-sided sticky tape) and
ensure good air-flow around it.

And of course check it after an hour of operation to validate your
installation! It could get hot enough to cause the sticky-tape to
melt/slump.
