Hi does anyone know a good program (if possible freeware) our maybe
opensource .net project for drawing real windows (the one you see in
houses), 2D is good enough it doesn't need to be 3D
I now this is not realy a programming question, but I can't find one using
google, because entering drawing windows as search parameter ofcourse gives
a lot of result but all related to programming drawing in windows.

Thanks in advance

Hi, I mean something like autocad, but it doesn't need to be so complicated.
Something very basic would do, It would be used to draw a window to show on
an offer to a client. But I think I'll have to make something like that
myself, because I can't seem to find anything that does this except
expensive programs for drawing floorplans/homes or autocad and these are to
extensive. And something like paint won't do because it has to be
proportional and it needs to show the dimensions on the drawings and some
other specific stuff.

Thanks and greetz Peter

Peter,

I have heard from such a program as you wish long ago from a
"timmerfabriek", however I don't know anymore if it still exist, therefore I
gave the link to Stabu.

If it is there, they probably know it (and tell than "timmerfabriek").

Hi Cor, that's actualy the one I want to "recreate", or to be more precise
have been ordered to "recreate" and to put it in my boss's words: "because
it has such an easy drawing interface for doors and windows" ;-)

Thanks again

Hi Peter

Forgive me if this not what you want, but could you not just photograph the
window in question and annotate the image with the dimensions, or are these
bespoke windows?

When I have to do floorplans and the like, I use *Microsoft Visio*, but
it's not free (although if you have an appropriate MSDN subscription
you will have it already!). *Inkscape* is an open-source project that
has similar features (interface takes a little getting used to for
those used to MS/Windows standard, but once you get the hang of it it's
fine). *Dia* is another popular open source program along the same
lines.

Hi Charles,

it isn't possible because almost every window on an offer has different
specifications and it has the show what the client ordered. But thanks for
thinking along.

Hi Larry,

I already came across the programs you mention, and I espcialy liked
*Inkscape* but it's to difficult for the people who'll be using my program,
they're very basic computer users. But as I mentioned before to Cor I think
I'll have to make something myself. Thanks for your reply
