Drag & Drop is GONE!

I recently did a clean reinstall of XP Pro a few days ago because of this
problem. Still here!
After a while of use (amount of time varies - a few hours of web surfing
this time) I can no longer drag & drop anything on my computer.
Not from one folder to another or to my desktop, not from a CD - can't even
drag down an address in Explorer to make a new favorite.
I haven't downloaded much but all the XP updates, realplayer, a google task
bar and the like - basic, simple and assumed safe. Virus scan comes up
clean.
ANY SUGGESTIONS? I don't even know where to begin.

another post like yours awhile back and it was the google
task bar,I don't use it but would it be much trouble to
uninstall it and reinstall it if it turns out not to be
the culprit?
