I am having a problem downloading 6.0 service pack 1 on
to my dell, that was factory installed with windows xp.
The error message that comes up is "The software you are
installing has not passed windows logo testing to verify
its compatibility with windows xp.
This software will not be installed. contact your system
administrator" I need to download this so that I can
install norton antivirus 2003. Can someone help.

Hi Jay,

This has to do with a registry setting and the CatRoot2 folder.

Enable Reinstallation of Internet Explorer or OE (Line 114)

After running this edit, rename the CatRoot2 folder (Windows\CatRoot2).
Then go to Start/Run, and type in:

"rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132
%windir%\inf\ie.inf"
