Someone I know is running XP with FAT32.
He says that he is having trouble downloading large files (4 GB) using
BitTorrent.

Is there any reason why having FAT32 rather than NTFS would cause problems
when downloading large files?

Yes. If you want to use 4 gig files then convert to the NTFS format.

FAT32 only supports file sizes up to 4GB. After that - no go.
