The first step in passing the Dowloading Intelligence Test (DIT) is to
know where your downloads are going.
If you don't know that, then you didn't pass.
Give your PC to the first homeless person you run into.

If you don't know where you downloaded the file to try doing a search. Click
the Start button then click Search. Enter the name of the file you
downloaded.
Or you can go back to the site you download from and begin the download
again. When XP asks where you want to save the file to take a look at the
location. It is likely that the first download is there. XP generally
defaults to the last location a file was saved to. If you do a lot of
download you might want to setup a Download directory in My Documents and
always download to that location first. By housing your "Download" directory
in the My Documents folder it is protected from System Restore.

The registry also keeps tabs on the last download folder used in Internet
Explorer:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
and look at the Save Directory value in right panel.
