Downloading System Disk

Hi everyone, I'm a Vista user, but i told my gf's sister I would help her
figure out what's wrong with her laptop, which runs on XP home. She either
didn't make or lost her system disks, and I need them to get her computer to
start so I can play with it. I obviously can't make any on my computer, but
I thought I could download what I needed. Is there somewhere I can do this?

most laptops have the
system preinstalled and
the makers provide restore
disks that can return the
machine back to its factory
state.

unfortunately the above
method wipes away the
old data.

perhaps your gf's sister's
girl friends have a win
xp cd you can borrow.

Sure, there are places to download anything you want.
You just won't find out about it here.
Since you're using it to repair a duly licensed system,
you shouldn't get any legal whining...but you will...lots of it.
Try a more appropriate newsgroup.

I agree with that sentiment. If one is savvy enough, he or she can find
..iso files for virtually any installation disk. I don't see any ethical
problems with downloading them because the license (Product Key) is what
is important.

However, one must be sophisticated enough to avoid malware. I would
imagine a number of clueless newbs (and even others with more
experience) have downloaded malware this way. One way to be safe is to
verify the SHA-1 or MD5 hash.
