Download certain EXEs that are initiated by scripts (i.e.
download links that link first to a script, which
redirects to the EXE) IE downloads it to the temp folder,
then opens it inside the browser like an image- blank
with the icon with the triangle, circle and square.
Someone tell me what's going on?

And on that same topic, just how do you reinstall IE6 on
XP? Now MS made it a pain in the a-- by not allowing
repairs to be done, let alone reinstall to fix problems.

If it is only .exe files, then read on and see if this is relevant:
You may have an invalid plugin.
Netscape-Style Plug-ins Do Not Work After Upgrading Internet Explorer
[Q303401]
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;303401

Remove the plugin with Regedit.exe
Start-Run-Regedit.exe
Navigate down to this key and remove it, after exporting it as a
normal safety precaution.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Plugins\Extension\.exe

If that key exists, then you will see what plugin has been installed.
The key does not normally exist.

Your other question is not on the same topic at all and I suggest you
repost as a separate question if nobody answers.

Indeed- the Flashget click catcher plugin existed. I only
thought it was only used for Opera, but guess I'm wrong.

Anyone else found the same problem?

There have been hundreds (if not thousands) of similar, though I don't
remember Flashget being mentioned, but then most don't supply that
information. They just delete the invalid plugin and forget it.
