downloading pdf files

Just installed Vista. Whenever I try downloading a pdf file, Windows Internet
Explorer locks up. What can I do to solve this problem?

Have you tried right-clicking the link and selecting 'Save As...'
instead of left-clicking it? Left-clicking it will make your PDF reader
open up in Internet Explorer and it can really be prone to lock-ups.

Thanks. Makes sense. A little more work, but better than having to close IE
and starting back over.

An alternative solution is to open Adobe Reader from your desktop, click on
Edit, then Preferences, then select Internet from the categories list, then
uncheck Display PDF in Browser. This will open Adobe Reader in its own
window instead of inside the browser and potential complications of opening
in a browser are avoided.
