Usually windows Media Player can play a movie download here in usenet.
But sometimes I come across some weird unrecognized file extensions.

What kind of viewer is need to view a " .rar " filename extension?

Hi,

..rar is a compressed file format, you need to decompress it with something
like winrar (www.rarlab.com). Then see what file extension the decompressed
file users.

Is that a "RealOne' player you are talking about? Or something
different?

I did a search of " RAR ' on the Internet and all I could find was
that a " rar " file is like a ZIP file, and needs to be unZIPped
(unRARed?? :-) ) with the right program. But I could not find
anything about a file with a " .RAR " extension being a viewable
movie format. I am not saying you are wrong - I truly do not know,
but it seems to me that more information would be available - lots of
attached files I am seeing now have a " .RAR " extension.

Please expand your explanation. Thanks.

Rick gave the correct answer. *.rar is a compressed file similar to *.zip.

I'll add a link to a free archive utility (IZarc) that handles *.rar, *.zip
and a multitude of others. I've been using it for years.
