Downloading from web sites

When I try to download from a web site I get a bunch of gibberish (numbers
squares etc.) How can I get it to download in english. The page opens with
Word.
 
You should be in IE, FireFox, Netscape or some other Internet Browser. How
are you getting to the web-site?
