downloaded wrong update

I downloaded the 64 bit update --but I should have downloaded the 32 bit
computer for the vista mail to get rid of stuck email--it doesn't work what
do I do now???

It should refuse to install.
Delete it and download the correct one.

If you mean this hotfix, the wrong version will just refuse to install, so
download and install the other one instead:

If both refuse to install, you may need to try the WORKAROUND
section described there.
