I'm using Word 2003 and went online to download a template. It brings the
document up on the screen for you to save? After saving, I do not see it in
the Templates Dialog Box (New) under any Tab. Do you have to make a Tab
first or does the path you save to make a difference? Thanks

Yes, the path where you save the downloaded templates does make a difference.
In Word, click on Tools | Options | File Locations. Save your templates to
the folder designated for "User Templates". The default folder for user
templates is C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application
Data\Microsoft\Templates.

Thank you for the response. It took me awhile but I finally figured that
when you saved the document (downloaded template) as a template file (dot) it
automatically took me to the proper folder. I then saw the template in the
General Template Tab. Now my next question, can you move the templates
around to other Tabs, or are you stuck with the General Tab?
Thanks again,

Yes, you can organize the templates. With Word closed, create one or more
folders under C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application
Data\Microsoft\Templates (or whatever your user templates folder is), and put
at least one template in each folder. When you restart Word, Word will
create new tabs under General Templates for your new folders, and add your
templates to an existing tab under General Templates if you name one of the
new folders with an existing tab name.
