Ihave win98.Can,is win2000 something to download/buy? The
cyber world expands with each passing nanosecond. 98 is
effective but it was stock on this hardware so how do I
update and/or load win2000? More software, as well as,
hardware is being produced using latest versions. To
realize the greatest productivity updates are a must.

To do a clean install, either boot the Windows 2000 install CD-Rom or setup
disks. The set of four install disks can be created from your Windows 2000
CD-Rom; change to the \bootdisk directory on the CD-Rom and execute
makeboot.exe (from dos) or makebt32.exe (from 32 bit) and follow the
prompts.

When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions
found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again
restart the pc booting the CD-Rom or setup disks to avoid unexpected drive
letter assignments with your new install.

Mmm, not always. Win2k is way better than 98, but your statement is
misleading. When things work for me, I leave them alone and only
update when I find that there is new functionality available but which
I lack. Updating just because it's there is often a good way to screw
up something that works and a sure-fire way tomake your hardware
obsolete.

This does not apply to things like Outlook (Express) and your browser,
of course, where it is wise to keep things up to date.
