download to save excel file from IE7

I used to have an option to either "save" or "open" an excel format file from
the web. It would either allow me to open in a webpage window, or save the
file to my disk. I accidentally unchecked a box, which has made it so that I
can no longer save the file to disk. I need to be able to save these excel
files to disk. Any ideas on how to get back to that point? Would it be a
preference in excel? or IE?

Dave,

I went through and checked the "confirm open after download" box for each of
the Microsoft Excel Worksheet file types. It is still opening it. It still
jumps to dropping information into a new web page, (where I can then save it
if I like)... I want to eliminate that step, and simply have it prompt me to
save when I hit the export button. Any suggestions?

Should I "Restore Defaults" in the folder options menu?

Thank you in advance,

Jason

I'm not sure that would help--and I'm not sure how much it would damage any
other setting you've used.

Can you rightclick on the link to the .xls file and choose "Save Target As"?

(I'd retry toggling the setting, too.)

Dave,

Thank you... I went in and Toggled the switch one more time, and it worked.

I appreciate your help.

Sometimes, the second time is the charm!

Glad it worked for you.
