I am trying to download a file that is 2.5GB in size. Using FDM (Free
Download Manager) no matter how many times or what server I try to download
from it stops every time at 1996MB.

Any help appreciated.

Running XP Pro, NTFS, 400GB Free HD Space, 4GB RAM

TIA

Maybe your destination partition has insufficient free space?
Try this to find out for sure:
- Click Start / Run {OK}
- Type these commands:
fsutil file createnew test.bin 2500000000 {Enter}
dir test.bin {Enter}
del test.bin {Enter}

Were you successful in creating a 2.5 GByte file?

It appeared to create the file, however when I did a dir test.bin it
reported file not found...

Actually it did create the file. I did a search on my HDD and there was a
test.bin file that was over 2.4GB in size that I found.

Use a download manager, Opera has a nice one built in. Download
managers will have a resume download option, when you stop at 1996MB
keep resuming the download until you get it, bout all you can do.
