Download problem

My moms computer has a weird problem, im sure its simple
but I cant figure it out. Everything she downloads is
stored as a word document. No matter where you download
it too. I was downloading her a program for her Palm, it
was a zip file, when I tried to open it, it opened as a
word document. I could not get it to unzip or anything.
The properties show it is a zip file, but the icon is the
word icon and you cant choose open with or unzip. Im
lost. Thanks for any help.

It sounds as if your file associations have gone awry. The best way to get
Zip to behave as Zip is to uninstall and reinstall it. When you do that, it
will take over the correct association again.
 
Well the problem is that she is running Windows 2000 and
when I tried to find Winzip to locate the download and
try to do it manualy I couldnt find it. Its the winzip
self extractor so im wondering if its built into Windows
somehow because I used the find feature and had no luck
locating winzip. Is there a way to change the downloads
file association? Thanks
