When I try to install IIS via the Windows Component panel I get told to
insert the Windows XP Pro disk. I insert the one that came with the computer
from Dell and it has no such directory. I have tried several times. Can't
find anything on Dell site.
Can I download IIS from microsoft.com?
Thank you very much.

There is no download for IIS available. The files to
install IIS are on the Windows XP Professional CD.
Does your Dell Reinstallation CD show "Windows XP
Professional"? If it does, try the following:

Insert your Dell/Windows XP CD in the CD Drive and wait for
the "Welcome to Microsoft Windows XP" window to appear.
Next, click on the "Install Optional Windows Components"
button and proceed with installing IIS.

Note: Make sure the Windows XP CD is clean and not scratched.
Use a very soft cloth to remove any smudges or fingerprints.
