What is the exact error message you get?

One thing I missed to mention was
there is a box showing the progress bar: it tried to install and then the
Windows pop up box came up on the top.

Why are you trying to download both SP1 and SP2. SP2 will have everything
SP1 has and more.

I downloaded SP2 first but corrupted then tried SP1.

No, that makes no sense. What you should have is SP2. If its download
was corrupted, you need to re-download it, not download something else
instead.

I know SP2 already includes fixes in SP1.
The reason I tried SP1 was just in case the SP2 in MS download site had
problem.

I don't know if it is my XP problem, but it shouldn't be because I installed
XP recently without problems.

I remembered last year when I installed XP I needed to skip some files as
these files could not be read from the CD, then when I downloaded files from
internet they were corrupted or could not be read.
