Downgrade to Windows 98

I am currently using a laptop with Windows XP Home edition
preloaded. Due to network requirements at my work, I was
advised to either upgrade to Windows XP Professional or
downgrade to Windows 98.

As I do have Windows 98 on hand, I wanted to know:

(1) How do I load Windows 98, while still keeping Office
2000 and the other software already loaded?

(2) Is it possible to have both Windows 98 and Windows XP
running on the same machine, and simply switch from one to
the other?

Any help would be most appreciated.

1) You can't. You would need to re-install all the
programs on Win98.

2) You can install Win98 and dual boot Win98 and WinXP.

Hope this helps!

Unless you installed the XP as an upgrade over the 98 and saved the
original system files, you would have to clean off and start over, and
then install the Office 2000

Yes - provided you make a separate partition for it. See method at
Doug Knox's site: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/tips/xp_repair_9x.htm
You would then need to install the Office on that Win98 if you wanted to
run it from there

But the context seems to imply that your Office runs an 'NT Domain'
network. To join that fully, you would need XP Pro (upgrade) or an
earlier NT series like Win2000. From Win98 all you could do is logon to
specific resources of the network, with administrative permission. And
you can do that from XP Home too.
