i was directed to his website in order to fix a problem,
when i downloaded the fix, and scanned it with anti
virus, it told me the download was a 'malicious script'

Did you leave off a word such as maybe "possibly" or something
similar?
Doug's scripts are safe.
But it is normal for an AV application to warn of any such changes.
That does not mean they are unsafe, just you need to be sure it is
safe, and Doug's are safe as long as they come from here:

?? A 'malicious script' does not have to be a virus.
A script (macro, bat etc) that might: delete a registry key, rename a
file, copy a replacement from the \i386 folder and reregister a dll. All in
the name of repairing an obscure problem would be considered a MALICIOUS
SCRIPT by most AV engines.
In the case of Doug's scripts and .reg's I would not fear.

Any script has the ability to be malicious, if it is the intention of the
person who writes it to make it so. You are seeing a "generic" warning.

Now, if you are viewing a web page and the warning comes up for no reason, I
would deny the script and add that web page to my deny list. They may be
trying to harm your computer.

Didn't you _read_ any of Doug's warnings before clicking on any of the
links to scripts?

Antivirus will say any .vbs is a malicious script. I have used several of
his fixes and all worked fine.

Ill keep the tips to myself. ;-)
