double click on folders opens search results

help!!!! if i double click on a folder, it will open the
search results screen. if i right click on a
folder, "search..." is at the top of the drop menu
and "open" is in the middle. how do i reset the drop menu
to have open as the default action??? thanks for any help
you can give me, sandy
