Double Click doesn't work

Please help, my double click doesn't work on any programs
and most files on my desk top, which makes it a real pain
to access any of my files. Is there anything i can do?

Have you checked for viruses?
 
I have Norton Anti-virus running on my laptop constantly, so yes...and once a week it scans the whole computer.

Any other ideas?
