double click button

i have a double click button (a thumb button on the side) on my mouse, an ibm mouse, and i just upgraded to xp and installed the mouse software. however the double click button doesnt work and in the control panel for the mouse there is nowhere to activate the button. help please.
 
Novi, how old is the mouse? Did you install the XP software for it?
