double click a link does not start explorer

It happen in one of my colleague's desktop.
No matter you double click or ctr click the link, it does not start explorer
and ....

Now, she had to copy the link; start explorer, paste the link.

Just to make sure: You're talking about Web links and the Internet
Explorer rather than the Windows Explorer? If this is true, where do
you click these links (Mail client, Word document, Desktop shortcut)?

IE > Tools > Internet Options > Programs tab > Reset Web Settings.
Make sure that the Internet Explorer will check that it is the default
browser. If this does not help:

"You cannot open a new Internet Explorer window or nothing occurs after
you click a link" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/281679/en-us
