Doom3 crashes

I've tried multiple times and the same thing always happens-when I get the
shotgun and shoot once the game freezes and I have to shut down the computer.
I brought down the console and saw the following message: "WARNING:
couldn't load sound 'guisounds.wav' using default. 1 warnings loaded
collision model models/weapons/shell1/mshell_lo.lwo
I uninstalled and reinstalled to no effect. I have a 128mg ATI Radeon 9700
graphics card and am using the original drivers. No problems with other
games.
Do I need to update the video drivers? Using XP Home; 1 gig ram; 200gig HD.
Lost on Mars.

Yeah grab the latest drivers, I think the 4.7s and below caused crashes,
although not that kinda crash, worth grabbing the latest ones for video and
your soundcard and chipset too.

As for warning messages in the console, they're pretty common and not
anything to worry about.
