Thanks a lot for that. Was considering "upgrading" but looks like a downgrade for me!

Removing a feature fromm freeware makes it crippleware now.

Which version/build leaves out the typewriter feature?

I installed Foxit Reader about a month or so ago and the typing feature
was not there. Does anyone have an older copy with the feature that
they'd be willing to share?

Which version is Crippleware

I've got Version 1.3 Build 0104 and it has a "Type Writer" tool in it.
I can type on the PDF but can't seem to save the altered file. (I never
needed this option and never tried it until i read this message thread.

If I have a version that is NOT crippleware, then I would be willing to
share it---but I need to know which version number is Crippleware.

Thanks.

Awww shit! Forget it. I just found out that my version (Version 1.3
Build 0104) is Crippleware. I'll be more careful about upgrading my
favorite freeware apps in the future.

I posted the executable in a zipfile at alt.binaries.freeware.

===============

Foxit PDF Reader 1.3 0916 still has the feature of allowing
typing onto the current PDF. BUT ... as far as I know, NONE
of these typing versions have ever permitted saving the result.

Yet, a work-around is ... use PDF Creator (or similar) to 'print'
to a new PDF. Ta-Dah

There ARE 7. Your NSP is not working well.

I've just checked the lates build 1413, and it does allow you to type.
It also lets you to save changed document. It's a new option.
The only limitation: in free version it adds watermark "For evaluation
only"
to the saved doc.

Wait a minute---all this was for nothing?

Still only two. Your must be right. I thought
it was your end! Sorry.
Did a Google, but all the sites dowmload the latest
version, regardless what version they say it is.
Even the 1.2 version.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Okay. I read all of the posts on this subject. Then I opened my old
Foxit Reader and checked it out. (I have since deleted it). However,
it did allow me to type in it, but could not save the file (as others
have indicated).

Anyway, I then downloaded the Foxit Reader Pro version 1.3 build 1325
which appears on the website as if it is a paid version.

After downloading it, I installed it and opened it up, only to find that
everything on it is fully functional. It does have some advertisement
on the upper right-hand bar, but I found that you can "turn that off"
under the View drop down menu.

It has full function of EVERYTHING. I opened up a PDF form and selected
the typewriter mode and was able to type in blank spaces in the form
easily.

When I went to save that page, a pop-up box appeared and said I could
save it in this "standard version" (though the Help/About calls this the
"Foxit Reader Pro"), it would have some "evaluation marks" on the
saved copy.

Well, I clicked okay, saved it, closed it, and then opened up my saved
document. Sure enough, in the upper right hand corner right on my form
was a "block" with text indicating this was an evaluation and created
with Foxit (or something to that order).

However, then I discovered that when I clicked in the typewriter mode, I
could then click on that evaluation info at the top and actually delete
the words by highlighting them and clicking delete. I could then print
out my form without the evaluation form info on it. Now, when I closed
and went back into the document, the evaluation form info appeared
again, but once again, I was able to easily click on it, highlight their
text, and delete it.

So, as far as I can tell, the Foxit Reader Pro version can be downloaded
and used for free with all features fully functional, and can even be
used to save form with added typing on them and printed without the
Foxit Evaluation Form info.

Very cool (at least in my opinion).

I've got an old version, 1231 (31st December 2005) that allows type writing -
anyone have a later version that allows it...?

A shareware that can delete its own watermark!

What will they think of next?

Thanks for that info. After adding text to a PDF document with the
Typewriter, I printed it to a printer, and a second time to a file
using PDFCreator. I didn't see any watermarks in either rendition.

Super! Thanks,
Larry
